Xiaomi has filed a patent on CNIPA which reveals the working of the sound charging. The working of this sound charging tech was revealed via CNIPA. This tech would be available in upcoming years. The patent reveals that the Xiaomi new tech uses environmental sound energy to charge the devices.

The sound charging device includes a sound collection device, a plurality of energy conversion devices, and a power conversion device. The sound collection device is used to convert sound in the environment into mechanical vibrations and conduct the mechanical vibration to energy conversion device, the energy conversion device is used to convert the mechanical vibrations into alternating current (AC) whereas the power conversion device is used to convert this alternating current to direct current (DC) to charge the device.

They say, this technology reduces the difficulty of charging and improves the user experience. If this tech launches in the market it will be a good step towards saving electricity. But it can also have some disadvantages too.
